SAPS March Newsletter

Përshendetje!

Welcome to the March issue of the monthly Shoqata SAPS newsletter! Here we will update you on the events and achievements of SAPS members this month while informing you of everything ahead. Let’s get started!

We hosted a Coffee with SAPS Event Saturday, March 23rd, bringing together students nationwide. We had representatives from the University of Michigan, Yale, Ohio State University, and American University. We discussed our common mission of uniting and helping Albanian students thrive, discussing different priorities in campuses throughout the country and future collaborative events. The event concluded with a Kahoot on Albanian history, which brought the competitive spirit out of everyone.

This month, we began The Dose of Albania series, highlighting the best of the nation’s culture and history. Our first episode detailed the Lin Settlement in Pogradec, which Swiss and Albanian archaeologists have found to be the oldest lakeside settlement in Europe at around 8,500 years old! We explained the historical importance of this discovery not only for Albania, but the region as a whole. You can find the post on our Instagram page.

We will continue posting Albanian fun facts and tidbits everyone should know, be they ancient or contemporary. You can reach out directly to Enri, our Editor, at enrielala@gmail.com with any collaboration ideas or suggestions!

Our Board Member Lorena Culaj continues hosting the Eagle Pod, having released four episodes so far. Her guests have ranged from Luka Lamaj, CEO of Docere Health and League of Innovators Young Entrepreneur of the Year, to SAPS Board Member and former Michigan State University Albanian-American Student Organization, President Klea Ahmet and Dr. Klair Lubonja, a former research fellow at the National Institutes of Health.

Each conversation has proven inspiring to young Albanian-Americans, highlighting our common stories and providing valuable advice. You can listen to the Eagle Pod here and stay tuned for more episodes to come, including other SAPS members and notable Albanians!

Last but certainly not least, we are looking forward to hosting Faton Limani’s Adaptive Leadership Lecture this Saturday, April 6th. Faton serves as the CEO of Leadership Advancement Associates and as Department Administrator at Harvard University, where he received his MPA and led the effort to introduce Albanian-language courses. He has taught impactful leadership courses across the world and has graciously offered to share with us his professional and personal expertise, spanning his early years in Kosova to his work with the Department of Defense, in academia and beyond. You can click here to learn more about our speaker and RSVP for the event here. We hope to see you there for the first of a lecture series that is bound to be transformative!

Thank you for tuning in to the second installment of our monthly newsletter. We hope you have gained something and please do not hesitate to reach out with any suggestions. Until next time!

Gjithë të mirat,

The SAPS Team
